Heritage House, Mendocino

The Heritage House was actually just south of Mendocino at Little River, on the coastline of California. Sadly, it is no longer in business. One article on its closing can be found here: http://www.lagunajournal.com/heritage_house_closing.htm

If someone intelligent and honest ever re-opens it, I'm sure they'll make a great deal of money, because there are thousands of us who will immediately call for reservations.

The text below was written before the closure in December, 2008.

The romantic comedy "Same Time, Next Year" was filmed here in the 1970's. It starred Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn and was filmed in the cabin which is now divided into two accommodations, named "Same Time" and "Next Year". We've stayed in both units. "Next Year" has the better ocean view.

The image to the right is of the main building and restaurant.

The coast line is very rugged and beautiful - in either fog or sunlight.

In the movie, the inn was called "Sea Shadows Inn", and this sign appeared at the entrance. When we were there, it was hanging on "Next Year"s porch.

This is one of the many cabins, perched above a rugged coastline. We're not sure which one it is.
